About

My name is Murasaki.  I love all things language, culture, history, art…

I have spent a large portion of my life learning and using foreign languages.  French and Japanese rank among my top three favourites.  American Sign Language takes the top spot, though.  Since middle school, I have found American Sign Language and Deaf culture to be fascinating and highly useful.  I have studied intensively the gravity of culture concerning language and vice versa.  Four years of college with a semester abroad yielded a B. A. in French.

I graduated from college with a B.A. in French with a minor in military science.  Since middle school I have loved martial arts.  I studied Tae Kwon Do for nearly five years, and every day, I long for the opportunity to continue my hand-to-hand education.  I joined the Army in 2008, and I have served on active duty since 2010 as a communications officer.  People often ask me why I joined.  Apparently I don’t look like the “usual type” that signs up to go to war.  The answer is simple.  Ji’e’toh.

My unique background in language, culture, and combat (plus a little [or a lot] of help from my friends) will provide me with the skills I need to undertake an endeavor for which I have spent my life preparing.

I am creating a language from epic fantasy series (and my personal favourite) The Wheel of Time, by Robert Jordan (and Brandon Sanderson).

Maiden Handtalk, prepare to meet your creator.

What an epic introduction. I am strongly looking forward to seeing what you come up with, or helping with research or ideas if you need them!
